Do I have to get insurance?

Southy’s Removals has Full Carriers Liability Insurance. This covers your items from pickup to placement in your new address.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payment is required on completion of the removal via cash or EFTPOS. We accept Visa or Mastercard. Long distance accounts over 100km must be settled before unloading.

What are your invoicing terms?

All moves must be settled at completion. Unless other arrangements where made prior to moving day.

How long is my quotation valid for?

Quotations are valid for one month. 

Can I pack my own boxes?

Yes, it is best to pack your own boxes. Be sure to pack using correct packaging so your items survive the rigorous environment of road transport.

Do I need to prepare my appliances for transport?

Yes, you should prepare them as per the manufacturer’s guidelines. At the very least remove hoses, tape up the power lead, remove from hanging bracket and drain water.

Do I have to empty my chest of draws?

Yes, by not emptying the furniture it will be to heavy and damage the furniture.

Will you disassemble and reassemble my furniture?

We can do this for you. You need to consider this takes time and in most cases will increase you hourly price.

When can we expect removalists to arrive?

As a general rule our staff start at 7am on most days. We often do multiple moves on any given day. You will be given an approximate booking time if you are not the first move of the day. And our staff will give you updates on our estimated time of arrival throughout the day. 

Are we covered under insurance or is this an extra cost?

Southy’s Removals does not charge insurance as an extra. It is included on every load.

Is there a cancellation fee if cancellations are not made within 48 hours prior to removal?

No, we do not charge a Deposit or Cancellation Fees.

Do we need to be present for our removal?

No, however you will be required to provide permission in writing and also any storage codes or keys. Our trucks are equipped with lock removers if required. 

Do I need to pay travel time?

Yes, “in some cases”if the move takes us over 50km’s from our depot we may charge a return fee.

Can I pack my own goods?

Yes, you can pack your own goods. If you do pack your own goods, the removalist will take no responsibility for any damage to packed items.

Will you move just one item?

Yes, from time to time we may back load.

How much notice do you need to make my booking?

There is no rule here, if we have the availability, we will do the job. Sometimes of the year we book out weeks in advance, so its best to call us and ask us to hold you a spot.

Do you move pool tables and pianos?

Yes, these are quoted on a case by case basis.

Will you move pot plants?

Yes, unfortunately pot plants take up a lot of space you will need to consider the value of that space when considering taking them. Any pots and plants are not covered by insurance. 

What items do you not transport?

Flammable, Toxic, Explosive, Industrial, Paints, Chemicals, Gas Bottles. If you are unsure ask our friendly staff.

Can you move Firearms?

Yes, we have staff capable and licensed to handle these items, we must be informed prior to the move so we can roster these staff accordingly. 

Can I send someone out to get goods from my storage?

Yes, only the client can do this. In some cases there may be a small fee.

Do you have storage, and can I access my storage?

Yes, we do provide Secure Storage options.

How long can I store my goods?

As long as you maintain your account.
